Toni Craven, Ph.D.

Our membership was pleased to present a Spring Symposium with Dr. Toni Craven, Ph.D., Professor Emerita of Hebrew Bible, Brite Divinity School, TCU. She is a friend and well known to the North Texas community. She is wonderfully qualified to provide a scriptural context for conversation about the collision of Church tradition and the changing role of women in the twenty-first century. The conversation is encouraged by Pope Francis: “We have not yet come up with a profound theology of womanhood.”

Be surprised at what the Bible says about women, as well as what it does not say. Antiquity and complexity mark the stories of the Jewish and Christian Scriptures, yet these texts continue to play a role in the religious and cultural life of the contemporary world.
